What it's like here

The culture, in practice.

Not aspirational values on a wall. These are the things you notice in your first week.

Real work, real users

Everyone works on systems that affect actual people — bank customers, patients, students, citizens. No mock projects, no invented features.

Senior by default

Every engineer on the team has shipped production systems. No juniors learning on a client's budget.

Learn constantly

Weekly knowledge sessions, an annual learning budget, and certifications sponsored by the company.

Sustainable pace

Peaks exist. Permanently is not acceptable. We ship serious software without treating burnout as a badge.

Remote-first, not remote-only

Office in Accra for those who want it, fully remote for those who don't. Quarterly in-person sprints for everyone.

Small, senior team

20+ people across 5 countries. You know everyone's name, and everyone knows yours.

Hiring process

Six steps. Two to three weeks.

Transparent timeline at every stage. You always know where your application stands.

01

2–3 days

Application review

We read every application. Yes, every one. Response within 3 business days.

02

Week 1

Intro call

30 minutes with our Head of Engineering or the founder. Get to know each other — no trick questions.

03

Week 1–2

Technical interview

Live coding with a senior engineer. Real problems, not algorithm puzzles.

04

Week 2

Code review or take-home

Your choice: review a codebase with us, or complete a short paid take-home. Your time is respected.

05

Week 2–3

Culture fit + references

Meet the wider team. We call two past managers or leads — verified, not just listed.

06

Week 3

Offer

Decision within 5 days. Full details in writing — role, salary, equity (where applicable), start date.

Remote life

Remote-first, done properly.

Not remote as a temporary concession. Remote as the way we work — with the structure and ritual that make it actually function.

Core overlap hours

4+ hours with GMT for standups and collaboration. Everything else is flexible.

Async-first by default

Written docs over meetings. Slack and Notion over status calls. Decisions get recorded.

Quarterly in-person sprints

Whole team gathers in Accra once per quarter for planning, bonding, and shipping.

Hardware and home office

Company laptop, monitor, and a stipend to set up your workspace properly.

Co-working allowance

For remote team members who prefer a desk outside the home. Fully covered.

Global team, local rituals

Each country has its own Slack channel and local meet-up budget.

Learning & growth

You come here to get better.

Not just a learning budget line item. A structured program that assumes you want to grow and we want to help.

Annual learning budget

Every engineer and designer gets a yearly budget for courses, books, and conferences. No approval hoops.

Certification sponsorship

AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud certifications are fully sponsored. Study time is paid.

Weekly knowledge sessions

Every Friday, one person teaches the team something they've learned. Recorded for later.

Visible promotion path

Engineer → Senior → Staff → Principal. The criteria are documented, not political.

Mentorship both ways

Senior engineers mentor juniors. Juniors teach seniors new tools and approaches.

Quarterly growth check-ins

Not a performance review — a conversation about what you want to learn next.

Client feedback

What our clients
actually say.

The move to SikaNet CBS was a bigger shift than I expected — but the right one. Before, our Susu collectors were on paper and every BOG report took us days to assemble. Now collections appear in the office before a collector even finishes their route, and the reports are just there. The team understood our business from day one.

DA

David Awuni

Founder, Adwumapa Microfinance

We were cautious about moving patient records online. The on-prem approach changed that — everything stays inside the health center, nothing goes to a foreign cloud. Our clinicians now retrieve a file in seconds instead of ten minutes, and every entry has an audit trail behind it.

MD

Medical Director

Sekyedumase Health Center

The patient management system they developed has streamlined our ophthalmology department. Appointment scheduling, patient records, and referral tracking are now seamless — saving us hours of administrative work every day.

Before you apply

How to stand out.

Application tips

  • Portfolio or GitHub link required — we want to see shipped work, not tutorials.
  • Mention the seniority level you're targeting. It helps us route your application fast.
  • A short cover letter beats a long one. Two paragraphs is ideal.
  • Response within 5 business days, every time. If we haven't replied, ping us.

Interview prep

  • Bring a project you can talk about for 10 minutes — architecture, decisions, trade-offs.
  • Be ready to explain why, not just what. We care about reasoning over frameworks.
  • You'll write code, not just talk about it. Live, with a senior engineer.
  • We ask about failure as much as success. What broke, and what did you learn?
  • Bring questions. Interviewing is a two-way street — we want to be asked hard ones.
  • Timezone matters. Let us know your overlap and we'll work around it.

FAQ

Candidate
questions.

Still have questions?
Rarely. Our client work requires senior engineers who've shipped production systems before. We do hire juniors occasionally through our internship program, and we mentor them intensively when we do.
